Martin Odegaard continued his fine goalscoring form as he netted for the third time this week to help us to a vital win at Newcastle United.
The Norwegian fired home from 25 yards to give us the lead on 14 minutes, and in the second half some good play from Gabriel Martinelli forced Fabian Schar into an own goal to give us breathing room.
Both teams would rattle the woodwork during an end-to-end contest, which ended with us claiming three points from one of the division’s toughest places to get a result this season, and move back within touching distance of Manchester City at the top of the division.

Arsenal Football Club were formed in 1886 and amassed 13 League titles, 14 FA Cups. Some of their greatest players include: Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams, Ian Wright, Robert Pires, Liam Brady, Patrick Vieira, Cliff Bastin and Charlie George.
We had to settle for a draw after letting a two-goal lead slip in a frenetic, feisty encounter at Anfield.
It started so well when Gabriel Martinelli stabbed us ahead before Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead with his head.
Mo Salah brought Liverpool back into it late in the first half, before he missed a penalty.
As time was running out substitute Roberto Firmino grabbed a late equaliser, and two huge late saves from Aaron Ramsdale preserved the draw.
It moves us six points clear at the top, but having played a game more than Manchester City.

Gabriel Jesus capped off his comeback from injury by scoring twice to help us cruise to victory against Leeds United.
The Brazilian tucked home a penalty on 35 minutes to register his first goal since October, and two minutes into the second half Ben White doubled our lead after some fine work by Gabriel Martinelli.
Then Jesus completed his brace on 55 minutes when he tucked home a Leandro Trossard ball, and despite Ramsus Kristensen netting a consolation, we wrapped things up when Granit Xhaka headed home to put the gloss on our seventh-straight Premier League win – the first time that’s happened under Mikel Arteta.

We saw our mid-season break come to an end with a defeat against Juventus, despite us dominating the game throughout.
Goals in stoppage time at the end of both halves saw us fall to defeat, with a Granit Xhaka own goal and a strike from London-born Samuel Iling-Junior proving the difference on the scoresheet.
Despite that, we bossed proceedings throughout and saw two goals for Eddie Nketiah ruled out either side of the break – and elements of the performance will have pleased Mikel Arteta ahead of the return of the Premier League on Boxing Day.
The opening 20 minutes were played almost exclusively in the visitors’ half, and we carved out some good early opportunities during that period.
Less than two minutes had passed when Reiss Nelson cut inside and rippled the side-netting, and then he produced some excellent control and skill to tee up Fabio Vieira on the volley, but the Portuguese’s blast was parried over by Juve keeper Mattia Perin.
Nelson’s bright start sadly came to a premature end when he limped off with a muscle injury after just 22 minutes, but we continued to be the dominant side and on 32 minutes Eddie Nketiah was denied twice within 60 seconds.
He firstly saw a goal ruled out for offside after tucking away a deflected Kieran Tierney shot, and then from the resulting free-kick a poor pass along the backline allowed our striker a shooting chance but he thumped his effort against the post.
But despite all that pressure, we found ourselves behind at half-time. On a rare foray forward, Juve won a corner and after it was cleared back out to Nicoli Fagioli, his cross was inadvertently flicked on into his own net by the head of Xhaka to hand the advantage to the Italians.
The second half once again saw us control possession and territory but struggle to create the same amount of opportunities. Nketiah did get the ball in the net around the hour mark, but he was again thwarted by the referee who adjudged Gabriel to have fouled a defender following a corner into the Juve box.
That brought about the introduction of Amario Cozier-Duberry and he looked lively during his stint on the pitch, regularly causing issues down the left flank as we probed for an equaliser.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side sat back throughout the second half and were content to soak up all our pressure, but Fagioli did go close with a drive from the edge of the box that whistled over the returning Aaron Ramsdale’s crossbar.
Late on, Ethan Nwaneri was also introduced for his first appearance for our first-team at Emirates Stadium, and he flashed an attempt just wide after some neat footwork on the edge of the area.
But right at the death, former Highbury resident Iling-Junior found space in the box and saw a shot deflect off Rob Holding to ensure our World Cup break ended with an undeserved defeat.

Martin Odegaard’s wonderful free-kick and Reiss Nelson’s deflected shot were enough to give us back-to-back wins in our mid-season training camp, and secure the Dubai Super Cup in the process.
In a keenly-contested friendly, we came under pressure for spells against Milan, but our two first-half goals were enough for the victory, despite the Italians scoring late on.
It means we maintained our winning form, ahead of the Premier League restart in less than two weeks’ time.
This game marked the culmination of a week-long warm weather break in Dubai, and we came into it buoyed by an excellent performance in the 3-0 win over Lyon in the same stadium last week.
Thomas Partey and Ben White were both named in the starting line-up for the first time after returning from the World Cup in Qatar, as our return to Premier League action on December 26 hovered into view. The two saw plenty of the ball in the opening 45 minutes before being replaced at the interval.
But it was the Italian giants, currently sitting second in Serie A, who looked more dangerous in the early exchanges. The closest either side came in the opening 10 minutes was when former Liverpool striker Divock Origi turned Rob Holding on the edge of the box, before curling his shot against the top of the crossbar.
Holding was in the right place at the right time shortly afterwards though, heading away at the far post after Milan won several corners in quick succession.
After soaking up the pressure, we opened the scoring in fine style. Eddie Nketiah was tripped just outside the box, and up stepped Odegaard who arced his left-footed strike over the wall and beyond the despairing keeper.
Odegaard was lurking for his second shortly afterwards, but Kieran Tierney’s cutback was just beyond him, and at the other end Origi headed wide from an excellent position right in front of Karl Hein’s goal.
Shortly before half-time we doubled our advantage. Fabio Vieira won the ball high up the pitch, burst into the box and laid it off to Nelson. The winger, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Saturday, calmly took a touch, then dispatched his shot home, via a deflection from Odegaard’s boot. But the initial shot was on target, and Nelson was certainly claiming it.
It had been a fairly even half in fairness, but we had certainly been more efficient in front of goal, and we continued to create chances after the restart. Mohamed Elneny sent a long-range shot just over before Vieira was also just off target when set up by Nelson.
Just as last week’s game against Lyon, this friendly was played with plenty of commitment by both sides. Indeed Nketiah and Elneny both picked up yellow cards in the second half.
Milan pulled one back with a simple header as the game entered the last 15 minutes. They won a free-kick near the byline and England defender Fikayo Tomori was left unmarked in front of goal to head home.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Lino Sousa, Matt Smith and Ethan Nwaneri came on for the last few minutes, as we held on to take three points from our final group game.
As with every game in this four-team Dubai Super Cup, we concluded with a penalty shootout to see which team earned a bonus point.
Karl Hein made four saves out of five in the first shootout, and made another here to deny Brahim Diaz as we triumphed 4-3.

A second-half brace from Martin Odegaard saw us beat Wolves and move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table going into the World Cup break.
Our skipper struck twice after the restart to ensure we claimed the victory we fully deserved for a dominant display at Molineux, which means we have now won three consecutive league games without conceding for the first time since July 2020.

The game may have been played amidst a heatwave, but it was Gabriel Jesus who was on fire as he netted twice on his home debut to help beat Leicester City in a topsy-turvy encounter.
The Brazilian striker opened his account for us with two goals in the opening 45; the first a sumptuous piece of play that saw him chip the ball into the top corner from inside the area, before he nodded in from close range 13 minutes later to put us in control.
And despite a Wiliam Saliba own goal halving the deficit, we bounced back within two minutes thanks to Granit Xhaka, and repeated the trick again when Gabriel Martinelli netted moments after James Maddison had once again given the visitors hope.
That proved to be enough to secure a second successive win at the start of the season, and kick our campaign off in the perfect fashion.
The game kicked off with temperatures in the mid-30s, but we were indebted to the coolness of Aaron Ramsdale just three minutes in when Wesley Fofana linked up with Jamie Vardy to glide into the box, but our number one stayed big to repel the defender’s shot.
Perhaps due to the conditions chances were initially at a premium, but we gradually began to dictate proceedings. Firstly, Jesus rippled the side-netting with a header from a Gabriel Martinelli free-kick, and then Bukayo Saka clipped a perfect pass towards Xhaka at the back post, but his header struck the woodwork.
But on 23 minutes, we did get on the scoresheet as Jesus opened his Emirates Stadium account in sublime style. He began to move on the left before finding Martinelli, who wriggled his way into the area to pick out Xhaka, who laid the ball back to Jesus. The striker stopped it dead, before quickly and casually chipping the ball over the 6’3” frame of Danny Ward into the top corner from 10 yards out to send our supporters wild.
That piece of champagne football came just before the first scheduled water break which briefly slowed down proceedings, but 10 minutes before half-time Jesus doubled his tally with a much more routine finish than his first. A dangerous corner from Martinelli forced Vardy to inadvertently flick the ball backwards, and Jesus was perfectly placed to nod home from a couple of yards out.
Jesus was thriving and twice in quick succession he had chances to complete a hat-trick – firstly latching onto a long ball by Ramsdale, spinning past Jonny Evans and was only denied by a well-timed tackle by Wilfred Ndidi, and then moments later he was played in by Martinelli only to see Ward smother his effort.
But despite our dominance of the first half, it looked like we may harshly see our lead halved from the penalty spot when Vardy raced onto a Castagne pass and initiated contact with the onrushing Ramsdale. Darren England pointed to the spot, but after being instructed by VAR to look again via the monitor, he reversed his decision.
That ensured we escaped into the interval with our two-goal lead intact, but just eight minutes into the second half the Foxes saw their deficit reduced when a long ball by Evans was flicked goalwards by James Justin, and Saliba could only watch as his attempted header back to Ramsdale creeped into the net.
That could have sent nerves jangling right around the ground, but just two minutes later we showed great character to make it 3-1. Ben White saw his cross fumbled by Ward right into the path of Jesus, who laid the ball off to Xhaka to grab a deserved goal.
But the Foxes wouldn’t quit and with 16 minutes remaining Maddison linked up with Kalechi Iheanacho on the right, and the Nigerian switched the ball back to the playmaker who drilled the ball between Ramsdale’s legs from a tight angle.
However, once again we showed excellent courage to go back down the other end and restore the two-goal cushion. Martinelli started and ended the move, winning back possession in the middle of the park, getting back into space and when found by Jesus, he steadied himself before unleashing a low inch-perfect strike into the bottom corner to score in his third consecutive Premier League game.
With 10 minutes remaining Jesus looked destined to complete his treble when Saka forced Ward to save with his feet, but the rebound proved too tricky for the hitman to keep on target, and despite Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah going close late on, enough had been done to secure six points from six.
