Hello and welcome to the first match of Bangladesh’s tour of South Africa. With three ODIs and two Tests to be played over the next four weeks, the action begins in Centurion today. Bangladesh’s team looks solid under the captaincy of Tamim Iqbal as they have all their in-form and experienced players available for this series.
South Africa’s side looks much better though, with plenty of match winners in both the departments. However, the pace trio of Rabada, Ngidi and Jansen who are a part of the limited-over format squad won’t be a part of South Africa’s Test squad as they will be participating in the Indian Premier League, that starts in less than two weeks.
For Bangladesh, Shakib’s batting can be a cause of concern as the ace all-rounder hasn’t scored a fifty in his last 25 innings at the international level. Bangladesh have never won a series in South Africa either, so it’s going to be quite a challenge for them. Will they be able to put up a spirited performance? We shall find that out over the next few weeks.
