Do you think this is good or bad for the Bundesliga? I say right now it sounds like a good chance to retain the core values of German football while staying competitive, just a bit scared it could be used as the first step to eventually attack 50+1…🤔

  2. Avatar de @fernandobernal1648

As long as the integrity of 50+1 remains intact I think this will be great. But 50+1 has protected the clubs and helped the Bundesliga remain just behind the Premier League in recent years.

You see La Liga with its outside influence now and what it's doing. How they so badly want have games during the season outside of Spain.

I mean, majority is majority so no influence at all

I truly respect the love and care that the fans have for their club in germany. They would rather see themselves struggle in the bundesliga every year then get outside cash from some rich dude that could make them more competitive. German fans are true fans of the club.

Nah let’s not lie it’s just fans of the Bundesliga trying too keep it from going even more mainstream, which is so fucking stupid

  6. Avatar de @mikoajpietrzykowski6088

I don’t see a problem why would we change anything, clubs are maybe not international but it has local loyal fanbase that will keep the clubs running, why so sudden rush to change?

  7. Avatar de @Imsoconfusedthesedays

They can spend what they want but unless another few teams can develop to the point where they can continually challenge Bayern, it will stay stagnant. I know Leverkusen is doing well but how long will it last and BVB has completely fallen off from where they were

1 billion is a lot of money, but in football, it's not that much. For example, look at chelsea over 1 billion euros spent in a couple of years, and they are not even challenging for a European spot

  9. Avatar de @mustafaekrema8316

I can't touch the point of being so sticked to the rule and refusing the benefits for them

  10. Avatar de @-.smokeX

Well we don't have bundesliga here in Pakistan so if they can broadcast it,it would be great

As a Brazilian, and Bundesliga being my favorite football league, and being an Eintracht Frankfurt fan, I'm actually really happy! Bundesliga is the best league in all Europe, so i think that this will make the league grow a lot!

I see many people in the comments who don’t understand why us German football fans are furious about this deal. I tried to sum up the reasons below so you can get a bit familiar 😊

    1. the way the money is distributed in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga currently will result in just a handful of clubs to even benefit from this. Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig will benefit the most. All other 33 clubs won’t get that much. This will result in the Bundesliga becoming even more predictable. Bayern will always be champions, period.
2nd: this is the first step of taking c away the fan‘s say. The vote was anonymous, so it wasn’t clear (until some clubs publicly stated what they voted for) which club is voting for which option. We fans weren’t asked. In Hannover they even asked the fans what they wanted: they clearly said: Vote No! But the club later announced they voted yes.
3rd: no investor in the whole wide world will buy shares worth 1 BN and doesn’t want to decide anything. Such things don’t exist in any economy. This is a fairytale DFL tells us so we shut up. Our main fear is that our matchdays will be torn apart further. The Bundesliga has the Saturday afternoon 15:30 conference where 5 matches are played at the same time. This is very likely to be torn apart if the investor is not happy with how much money is made.
4th: The Bundesliga is a broken system: we have clubs like RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim which no one cares about in first division and clubs like Hamburg and Schalke which are revenue drivers in 2nd. So meaning RB and TSG are basically paid by the clubs that create TV revenue. We need to first change the way money is distributed in the league before throwing more into it.
5th: another fear: We fear that with more money in the system and increasing costs that these costs will be distributed to us fans: resulting in ticket prices on premier league level and higher and higher costs for streaming the games. Many people can’t afford that.
6th: higher ticket prices will result in less and less people of the so called „Ultras“ will be able to get into the stadium. As they are the main people responsible for the atmosphere this will kill German stadium atmosphere which is arguable the best of the top 5 leagues.
7th and last but not least: once we open the doors for investors in DFL it’s a short way to put down 50+1 regulation which enables the fans to have the power over the club. This rule is very important (but unfortunately not controlled very good as Leipzig and Hoffenheim can break it without consequence). If they put down that regulation we fans will have lost our entire voice. Nobody wants to be a fan of FC Samsung Schalke 04 or FC Qatar Airways Bayern Munich.

This is why we, the fans of the beautiful game, are furious. Our voice doesn’t count. We don’t matter to DFL. During Covid they were telling fairytales that they will become humble again and the time of big spending is over. They just told us so we will keep our streaming subscriptions and so on. Now they are lying again unfortunately..

This is the reason why other league won't grow
Yet people blame the Premier league for being corrupt
When opportunities comes like this you take it football is much different than it was before

I'm PRAYING for a big investor to come to my club here in Cyprus

I can tell Fiago is desperate to get Hamburg SV to the Bundesliga (hey, i'm a fellow Hamburg fan as well)

  17. Avatar de @mach4518

I can see why they are protesting. You look at all the other leagues, mostly run by the media. EPL, most of Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and even the Scottish Premiership. Bundesliga isn't even in Efootball! That's how true they stay to the game

If done right this could be great but if mismanaged it could be the worst decision to ever happen in german football

  19. Avatar de @kiritomato1908

Its such a bad deal. The 8% were worth at least 3 Billion Euro, but the DFL undervalued themself again for no reason at all.

  20. Avatar de @captainb4

I was in Darmstadt at that protest day. 12 minutes of silence followed by "Scheiß DFL"-shouts from the home and away fans together. After that the away fans burned the stadium to the ground

  21. Avatar de @SouLP196

No one, not a single company in the world will invest 1 BN when they don’t get to have any saying on anything. This simply won’t happen and is a fairytale DFL tells the fans so they shut up

  22. Avatar de @vincenthughes7741

Not a fan of it, It would probably turn corrupt.

I will say as a relatively new American fan the biggest thing holding me back from fully following the Bundesliga like I follow the Premier League that I don’t see talked about is is access to games, here in the US every match is restricted to ESPN plus and there’s no way to watch a Bundesliga match without paying for a subscription, yes the Premier League has streaming rights to peacock however at least one match per match day is broadcast on regular cable television, the Bundesliga need to secure a deal like that for ESPN otherwise fans like myself have no reason to get invested in a league I have to pay to get invested in to begin with
Edit: Other European leagues like La Liga and Serie A have this problem as well where as far as I know matches are pay walled making it far less intriguing for me as a fan to get invested in the first place
