In this new episode I visited Crystal Palace going behind-the-scenes as we gain exclusive access to the club.
We begin with a tour of Crystal Palace’s state-of-the-art academy, where I’m joined by the club’s charismatic chairman, Steve Parish. In a candid conversation, Steve provides valuable insights into the demanding role of a Premier League team chairman. We delve into the challenges faced by a club operating without a lavish budget and discover how the pursuit of survival each year is paramount to remaining in the fiercely competitive Premier League.
As the discussion unfolds, Steve Parish opens up about the difficult decisions he has had to make regarding managerial changes. He shares his honest admission on the departure of Patrick Vieira, giving us a glimpse into the emotional turmoil that accompanies such choices.
Next, we step onto the training pitch to meet Crystal Palace’s esteemed manager, Roy Hodgson, the oldest manager in Premier League history. Roy reflects on his return to Palace as coach and discusses the bravery displayed by the club’s owners in giving him another opportunity. We also uncover Roy’s tactical approach and gain valuable insights into his vision for the future of the club.
Prepare to be immersed in the world of Crystal Palace, its academy, boardroom, and training ground in this unmissable episode, offering a unique perspective on the inner workings of a Premier League club striving to achieve greatness.

39:27 you can tell how much Roy loves Crystal Palace
Imagine the glazers doing this, nev would be giving them the tour!😂
Great respect to the owner, i 'm big fan of Roy old manager of my favorite team in Denmark Fc Copenhagen.
One of the best footballing interviews I've seen. You find out so much about the running of a football club, understanding how roy thinks about the game and how he approaches different parts. All brilliant!
Roy looks like he's happier & healthier than he has been in years in this video!
I hate to say this (and yes, I know we're shit), but Charlton need exactly this!
Good podcast
Best episode by country mile
Please remove that hair in front of Roy’s left eye. It’s doing my head in!
Great interviews btw. Got a new found appreciation for both Steve and Roy.
I love Roy Hodgson the man is so smart and understanding
As a Brighton fan I should in theory hate this video. However, Palace has very much been at the same financial level as Brighton, with similar challenges, so I can only respect how the club is run. And Roy is a wonderful, humble manager and, more importantly, an extremely decent person.
As a manchester united fan I only wish our owners had 5% of Palaces owners knowledge and ability
From a west brom fan I can't say how much I respect Roy as a manager and as a man his a top bloke here did a great job for my club while here was with us much love ❤❤
We were formed in 1905, not 1861. Why does our chairman keep pushing this lie?
Simon Jordan ; what a mess you've done there. Luckily SP clean up your mess
Fabulous content.
Tig9❤
I sometimes wish Palace were more inventive like a few other small PL clubs, but there’s no doubt the people in control have their hearts in the right place. Cheers.
11 million for pitches is crazy
Approx 39:00 onwards – it's sad when Roy talks about Palace having to accept the fact they'll never be able to beat the top teams but simply try and keep up with them. It's a sad indictment of where the game is right now, and it's spoken about really well by Steve in the other video. It shouldn't be that way. Everyone should be able to dream of winning one day.
Though as an Everton fan, good luck trying to find this kind of open and honest conversation with them.
Easily most interesting football CLUB vid watched for yonks. Subbed.
An impressive insight into the workings of Crystal Palace. I have to say, it looks a very well run unit.
Probably the best one yet. Being a Liverpool fan, I have never liked CP. But I found this really compelling. Very honest opinions from SP and as for Roy, had a bad time at Liverpool, but he is a quality coach. 👏👏👏👏👏
Top bloke Steve Parish. Met him at motorsport events a couple of times when he raced in the Porsche Super Cup. Down to earth bloke and his passion for his club comes across here.
This has got to be a regular thing. Even if its just 1 every 2 or 3 months i would be in anticipation of the next. Great episode
Roy is a legend and a gentleman
Another great episode! Brilliant insight into Palace! 😀
Great episode. Made me like and respect Palace more too
would be very hard to get clubs and owners to agree to this but would love to see more BTS of clubs, hear their stories etc
Longtime Palace fan and I dont remember a manager that has such a strong influence on the club. He and Ray are Palace Legends.
Watching this and all I’m thinking as a Chelsea fan is I wish when chelsea sacked Potter they had someone like Roy to come in and steady the ship. The way he speaks shows his experience and intelligence in the game
Wan Bissaka was a winger haha shocked
Brilliant interview with both Steve and Roy – class acts.
Lot of respect for Parish. Of all the clubs who sacked their managers, he was the only owner who actually talked to a reporter about it; instead of some terse social media release
Gary Neville was the worst ever manager in la liga 😮 with valencia 😮
Fantastic. Completely changed my mind about Neville. Great interviewer. Minimal ego
Great show Gary! I have always wanted to go see a PL match but never thought I would have the chance. We finally were able to go last year, 2022. At Selhurst against City, 0-0 draw. It was amazing! Great fans, great atmosphere! My whole family are Crystal Palace fans now!
