yup German football is Bayern Munich and who else? In terms of quality the Spanish league is currently#1 although these things tend to go in cycles. Wales got to Semi Finals of the European Championship using players drawn from the premier league and the championship. International football is clearly more than just the strength of the domestic competition.
Not so sure about German league so much better than PL. A tad perhaps. Better structure for clubs and fans for sure esp with ticket prices, great crowds, great stadiums, organisation etc.holding 2006 WC helped hugely there.I was at it ?. Entertaining generally the games in the budesliga with very nice skillful football played. Bayern rule the roost there and are the super club there. Just 1 CL in 2013 since 2001 and a final in 2010. Numerous Semis, quarters etc Maybe a C + grade at first but have to upgrade to a B- then. Dortmund a huge club and with history are sort of a selling club which is a real shame as are a number of other clubs. Interestingly Germanys best players mind you tend to go to Bayern though. Interesting to see if they do it this year with their legendary coach back who is indeed in the Ferguson or Hitzfeld mode. The Schalkes and Wolfsburgs are always competitive on their day but dont have the finances they could use to build long term success. Bayern need their A game to win and hope Barca or Real dont play theirs. With German national team v England he is 300% CORRECT. Have some squad of players and can even accomodate the premieristas.
Simple FACT IS Premier League WAY WAY OVERATED. RECORD IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SAYS IT ALL REALLY over the last few years. City spent HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS in last few years. 2 QFs and 1 SF since 2011. United big spenders too 1 (ONE) QF since 2011, Liverpool 1 (ONE) QF since 2009. Chelsea 1 SF and 3 last 16s since 2012. Leicester 1 QF 2016 Actually The most impressive achievement I'd say. Arsenal ALL LAST 16 EXITS 11-17 RIP ( and spurs ) One can't really blame bad luck because they had bags of it in the Champions Leagues they Won and even back in 70s n 80s were RARELY convincing winners. Naievity and THINKING they are the best in Europe won't cut it because THEY ARE CLEARLY SECOND BEST and have been for A DECADE even with Chelsea winning it in 2012. Europa comp don't cut it. Record very moderate even in that. I reckon last 2 will come UNSTUCK. 5 becomes 2(who basically had byes to the QF) becomes ZERO Sooner rather than later. Some clubs THE OBVIOUS ones living on Past Wins now for SOME TIME. City may boss a very average premier league but to win the CL. DIFFERENT BALL GAME ALTOGETHER. Media lot to answer for. Listening to Pundits on likes of Talksport TALKING OUT OF THEIR BACKSIDES ON 'ENGLISH' clubs 'DOMINATING' in Europe. LAUGHABLE! MORE BREXIT BREXIT BREXIT beckons. A quarter final appearance to an english club is like a trophy. Likes of Real, Barca and Bayern take this for granted, quarter finals bare minimum stage to reach consecutively for a DECADE. THESE ARE AND WILL BE THE WINNERS even in a Non Vintage period in my view. Filters down to the England team too WORLDEXIT18 NO DOUBT. SEE EngEXIT 16 and WHY https://youtu.be/unxJHY1VaXE
City only scraped into a semi last year and only for Hart could have been beaten by 6 or 7. Leicester did their best and made a mockery of the big spenders to an extent.
Our top 8 is better than anyone else's top 8, but when it comes to the CL yes we do struggle. Most people watch the PL as it is the most competitive, Leicester proved that and no team has won it back to back for ten years. The Italian league is only won by Juve, the German league is only won by Bayern, and only Real or Barca win the Spanish league. Sorry Didi, you're wrong.
Am sorry but it's society imbedded in to the human condition if you earn money on the scale of the England players literally multi millionaires your desire and fight will diminish Fact!
too many matches in England. Players are tired at the end of the season, that's why the fail in big tournaments. It's so obvious, everyone in Europe knows this.
guys the real problem of england teams has been bad management and poor tactics and visions.they really need a football man a top coach or manager as they use to call it in england,we all see it, it has nothing to do with premier league.Roy was very bad all his decisions was very wrong.Didi hamann is always like this when it come's for england issues, this guy is so jealousy of premier league i always watch him on sport talk show he always has something to say about england.even not onley him most of them talk very bad about premier league all because premier league is so powerful.all the sport industrys in the world want to make money as fast as any thing.so mr hamann and others that think alike dont forget spain was once like england before they got it right ok.if england fail to deliver doesn't mean premier league is bad you and your german experts always talk bad about premier league and is very funny to me because there's noway to compare bundesliga to premier league not even laliga ok.what matters to any business is the money,so stop been jealousy of premier, why i know all what you guys i doing trying to kill premier league to promote bundesliga.i leave here in Germany so i know what i m talking and i see it too every time, me my self is a football man i love the game i even play my football here in Germany so stop hating mr hamann, get a life.
There's no question that the English Premier League is an exciting league to watch, but Didi Hamann has a point.
Sure, England's top flight clubs, whether it's the EPL or the old First Division before 1993 have the third most titles when it comes to the three main UEFA titles (UEFA European Cup/Champions League, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup before it was absorbed into the UEFA Cup starting with the 2000 tournament and the UEFA Cup/Europa League) with 27 including a time in the 1970s-1985 where they had their successful period. Only Spain's La Liga with 33 and Italy's Serie A with 28 have more and Germany's Bundesliga had 17.
However, the Heysel disaster tripped up England's top flight league and they have yet to fully regain their winning momentum after UEFA slapped English clubs with a five-year ban and a sixth-year for Liverpool for that tragic event in 1985 in Brussels.
Yes, the EPL had some success since the Heysel ban with four UEFA European Cup/Champions League titles from three different teams, three UEFA Cup Winners' Cups before it was absorbed to the UEFA Cup/Europa League in 2000 with three different teams and two UEFA Cup/Europa League titles with two different teams. However, who's doing the bulk of the heavy lifting in European tournaments consistently since the Heysel ban in England? Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
When England's top flight league has to rely on those four clubs to do the heavy lifting when it comes to European tournaments by making more Top 2 finishes consistently, then there's something wrong.
It's not just the English Premier League. England's culture of huffing the long ball to the striker up top is clearly outdated and their team unity is atrocious.
Whether it's Jurgen Klinsmann, Sam Allardace or even Manuel Pellegrini, England's culture and their attitude as a team needs to change.
People dont watch the english league and think that they are the best league in the world. People watch EPL becos English soccer has been broadcasting the game since the 70s to Asia( at least for me) and their following had grown since then. Its helps that people speaks english more and can understand what the commentators are saying. Of cos EPL is not the best league nor the players most technical but it is the fastest and most exciting to watch.
He is completely wrong. The Bundesliga isn't strong, it's just Bayern who are strong. And let's face it, they got no further than Man City in Europe last year. There is a choice; A competitive league with no superpower teams which is hugely popular but not conducive to creating a strong national side, as the top players never play together and aren't used to winning; or an uncompetitive league where all the wealth and top players play for 1 (or 2) super-clubs that win everything every year creating a quality national side in the process. Truth is the rest of Europe is petrified of the PL. Look at where all the top managers are going, and from next year even the bottom PL teams will have buying power parity with the top Bundesliga and la liga clubs.

Ironically he played most of his career in the Premiership
I give United some praise for winning a European trophy but their stock has fallen a lot compared to yesteryear.
City only scraped into a semi last year and only for Hart could have been beaten by 6 or 7. Leicester did their best and made a mockery of the big spenders to an extent.
Sure The Top managers have arrived but Top players?? And the lack of English players in their own league is ALARMING.
Money bubble. The actual Football hinges on average. Since Ronaldo left United in 09, been going backwards.

the sad truth
guys watch my video on why i think the premier league is overrated

True of every professional sports league — except maybe baseball. That's standard shite

Clearly this fucking clown hasn't seen Marcus Rashford play. Typical ex Liverpool player talking shit.

Spot on Hamann.
I agree, I remember when players played for bonus pay now they get a fortune every week whether they win, lose or draw.
and now brexit (y)
He's right but I didn't see Didi reject the fat contracts in the Premier League when he was playing. #hypocrite…..
Spot on
