Burnley relegated from Premier League after six seasons

Burnley’s six-season stay in the Premier League came to an end as Newcastle’s 2-1 victory at Turf Moor condemned the Clarets to relegation and Championship football next season.

A win for Burnley would have confirmed their top-flight status at the expense of Leeds United, irrespective of their final-day result at Brentford, but a catastrophic start left the Clarets with too much ground to make up.

Burnley deserved to be relegated after the horrendous decision of sacking Dyche. We saw it coming they should of seen it coming

    0:46 that trim is horrific

    Unlucky Stoke 2.0

If Dyche was still in charge I'd of felt bad as he did a crazy job getting Burnley into Europe let alone keeping them stable for 6 years on their budget basically having his hands tied behind his back. With him sacked Im fine with this similar to how Watford give 0 of their managers anytime to do anything.

Burnley will be in administration within five years.

  6. Avatar de Jack

Selling their striker to a relegation rival and getting so close after that and sacking Dyche, won't be back in the premier league for a long time, cut their own throat

  7. Avatar de Blood-eagle

I foretold it anyway that Wout Weghorst came to Burnley to play Championship football.

You need to score to win games, not just defending well. Statistically, Man United leaked more goals than Burnley.

Good, dour team that plays awful football.

sooo satisfying after they sacked dyche. banter club.

That’s nothing, a wee lad called Jay Cartwright took woking from the conference league to the champions league in just SIX seasons!

  12. Avatar de sarcasticallysahl

Deserved it after sacking Sean Dycke. Stay in the championship.

  13. Avatar de Jake Stone

Should not have fired dyche, and why was Leeds favorite to go down, they were super strong previous season

  14. Avatar de Millie Greaves

On behalf of all Blackburn fans I've got to say thank you to Newcastle and thank you to Leeds(not a phrase we say lightly) next season we have:
    -Dingles (Burnley)
    -Knobs end (PNE)
    -Pie munchers (Wigan)
    And Blackpool

  15. Avatar de Bill Blodger

What’s Stelling talking about? Leeds weren’t favourites for relegation at the start of the season.

  16. Avatar de blue

To bad so sad they should of played better down they go. At least Leeds aare safe for now.

  17. Avatar de Mohammed Ubaithe

Did expect this to happen after Sean got sacked, was a very good manager to the team BUT results didn't go his way.

  18. Avatar de Omar Shemiu-idowu

If I'm being honest I saw this coming after they finished 7th because they didn't capitalise on their success

  22. Avatar de AZtravelworld

sad for burnley but the battle between everton leeds and burnley was epic

  23. Avatar de Sleek Vic

Savage Newcastle, took their best player and relegated them on the final day ?

  24. Avatar de JMP 90

Forest for Burnley would be a good trade off.

  25. Avatar de Silverfox

You lost to Norwich. NORWICH. That was unforgivable

  26. Avatar de Munyaradzi Madhangi

Why did you sack Sean dyche …disloyalty he survived all these years in epl without a budget

  27. Avatar de GoldenbanjoDJ

Feel like a Team Like Burnley probably outstayed its welcome in the PL tbh

  28. Avatar de Simon Oliver

They had a good run really Burnley they definitely punched above their weight mainly because of the job sean dyche did really they are definitely capable of coming back at the first attempt imo I am glad leeds stayed up as a neutral tho I enjoy their style of play and they have been entertaining to watch since they came back up imo ?

  29. Avatar de Times Football

At least Burney commentators should not be relegated. Those guys are fire.

  30. Avatar de random293

  31. Avatar de D W

Leeds Burnley.s… Boards putting the boot in to Everton to the fa with two games to go sssssss nake stuff that.

  32. Avatar de TheLeechaolan15

    Burnley made several crucial mistakes.
    – Relying on Brownhill too much.
    – Lennon did not fix the RM position
    – Weghorst is not as good as Wood.
    – Cork shouldve played every game.
    – Sacking Dyche is for some intern doesnt make sense.

  33. Avatar de AnthonyUK

Everton should have had points taken away from them. Firstly for their shocking mismanagement of funds then for the pitch invasion where they were attacking people.

  34. Avatar de Dylan Waugh

As a Leeds fan I’m obviously glad it was Burnley and not us but I think if they had kept Dyche then they would be in the EPL next season for sure! Who could they really bring in at that stage of the season who was better than Dyche in a relegation battle????
If they kept Chris Wood they would also have stayed up. He is a superb striker, I was gutted when we lost him to Burnley to be honest lol
I’d very happily take Pope, Tarowski off their hands and I’d even take Charlie Taylor back and give them Junior Firpo in return lol If they don’t play their cards right in the next few months they are in grave danger of going down the same path Leeds did and end up in League 1!

  35. Avatar de bazzar

Might never the see the premier league again. They over achieved on their budget. The American ownership model will be tested now which will be interesting.

  36. Avatar de Clint

Actually congratulations burnley fc ?not surprised at all

  37. Avatar de Aaron Whitehouse

As a leeds fan this was like us winning the premier league…

  38. Avatar de Andrew Field

Newcastle fan here Unlucky Burnley we know how you feel chin up lads all the best for next season and well done Leeds ?

  39. Avatar de Sham Soni

As a Leeds fan I still think Everton should have points deducted- Sean did a brilliant job had to sell woods literally on a shoe string budget every year – Mighty Leeds’s survive couldn’t cope with this every season

  40. Avatar de Carl Illingworth

Burnley have not won on the last day since 2016. Good luck to them next season but someone had to go. Thankfully it wasn't us.

  41. Avatar de SubjectRandom

This is football, you either stay up because you've won enough or you go down because you weren't good enough.

  42. Avatar de M Hansen

    Forza Leeds United ???

  43. Avatar de Sav Breezy

Look if Burnley kept Sean dyce they would’ve not got relegated

  44. Avatar de Hurley Cape town
