I've always wondered, if they were playing away in the grey kits. Then why would they even have the blue ones with them in the first place
Are you allowed to change kit at half time? That seems like it shouldn't be a thing.
I think the Kalvin Phillips excuse is definately up there
Explains why England lost to Germany in World Cup 96.
Almost as bad as Steve Bruce blaming the yellow winter balls for why Sunderland went on a 16 match winless run.
Bull
I think they said it blended in with the sponsor boards around the rim of the pitch if I remember correctly
So it wasn't a strange excuse. It was a valid point.
Liverpool ????
I remember when Jimmy Hill made the observation about the grey kit on Match of the Day saying ’the players can’t see each other’ and he was treated like a mad old man. The panel show They Think it’s All Over had a dig as my patchy memory recalls, but had to hold their hands up and give him props when Man Utd made the kit switch for that very reason, which indeed produced improved performances.
The Republic of Ireland had the same excuse with the orange third jersey when we lost away to Macedonia.
Okay…
He's from Liverpool!!! As a United fan, i don't trust him!
Watch the match and see if MU had unusual error rates attributable to being unable to pick out their team mates, as claimed. Going from losing the first half 3-0 to winning the second half 1-0 suggests there's something in it (even considering tactical changes from both sides).
Those wondering why on earth they'd bring out a grey kit: Please understand that the purpose of being a kit sponsor is to take money off people by selling them merchandise, and promoting your brand. It has almost nothing to do with performance.
Why would you design a game day shirt that looked good with jeans?
I could understand it as something the players wore whilst on preseason tour or when they get off to the coach at stadiums, but especially before the internet and players every movement being photographed??
Hi, can you provide a long/short video on which league has most number of goals in a single league season campaign. Today premeir league surpassed the record and it is 1223 league goals in a single campaign.
The record for the total number of goals scored in an entire league season in a single division is held by the English Football League (EFL) Division 3 North during the 1930-1931 season, with a total of 1,999 goals scored. This record was achieved in a 24-team league where each team played 46 matches, contributing to the exceptionally high goal tally.

excuse fc
If it was cause of the shirts why did they have the blue and white ready to go? Who brings a 3rd kit to the match?
Major excuse
And this wasn't the last time they made excuses for losing 😂😂
Damn a researcher from Liverpool really took up United’s case… must have been an Everton fan
Well, they did only lose 6-3 the next time they went to The Dell, so maybe that’s just how United Do
Today I learned that you can change kits mid game, I thought kits were determined before the game started
Typical… lose 3-0 then provide excuses… why not wear blue at the start then or why changing the shirt doesn’t change the outcome… idiot old man
Madrid won grey and still won UCL… delusional old man who also thinks ji sung park could stop Messi and would beat prime Barca to win UCL
It was a similar story at Leeds, when Howard Wilkinson stated the "dark skinned players" couldn't see each other in the green kits during the night games.
Strange how few people remember that one.
6 months later Southampton smashed them 6-3 😅😅😅
